And now for a little fun.
Listed in this section of the
database, you will find different covers for the same literary works.
In some cases, the books were printed
by different publishers. But usually, a printing house would demand the
absolute rights for the books they represented, at least in that format
(i.e., paperback).
Often, publishers such as Pocket Book
and Signet would reprint books using the same edition number, but would
change the cover art to fit emerging tastes in their readership. For
example, there are at least three different covers for Signet #1,000,
Kiss Me Deadly, by Mickey Spillane. I have not included
those here, since you would normally see those just scrolling through the
Signet database.
On the other hand, Dell printed A.A.
Fair's (Erle Stanley Gardner's) Bats Fly at Dusk, as numbers
254, 691 & D348. Each edition has different cover art. Those ARE listed in
this section, since you would NOT normally notice those as you go through
the Dell section.
Likewise, Pocket Book might later
reprint 25¢ titles under
it's Cardinal label as 35¢ offerings. They almost always had different
cover art. Those, too, can be seen in this
section.

This section is
FAR from complete, and frankly, it probably never will be. I found these
titles by sorting the database from my own collection. In other words, all
of these are MY scans. The thousands of images donated by other
collectors are not yet represented.
Still, I think
they're fun to browse. Enjoy.
